I’m back again with another verse that has been impactful to me.  In this series, I’ve been taking you through several verses that helped me get through various seasons of my life and have a special place in my heart.  I hope that as I share these verses with you and what they meant to me that you’ll find they apply to your life also and that you’ll find some encouragement in these posts! Now, let’s get on to this installment’s verse.

Life Verses: Part Five: Zechariah 4:10

Well, it’s been a while since the last Life Verses post, hasn’t it? I got so caught up in sharing my travel adventures that I just never got back around to telling you about some verses that impacted me for a season of my life.  In case you’re new here and don’t remember the previous Life Verses posts, let me catch you up on what’s going on.  In Christian circles, it’s not uncommon to hear people saying they have a “life verse” or asking other what their “life verse” is.  This would be a verse that has stuck with them throughout their Christian life.  For me, there’s not just one verse that’s a favorite or dear to my heart: there’s several.  Each one made an impact for at least a couple months of my life for the season I was in.  In this series, I’m going back through verses that have been special to me and telling you what they mean to me.

It’s Already Done

For some reason, I never did get around to pre-writing and scheduling posts this month.  Or even this week.  That’s why every single day, I’ve had to sit down and write out that day’s post.  Today is no different in that regard; its only difference lies in the fact that today, I have no idea what to write about.  I’ve prayed before writing this post that only the words that God wants written will be written, so let’s see where this goes!

Life Verses: Part One: Proverbs 31:25

People often ask me what my “favorite” Bible verse is, or what is my “life verse”.  I always have trouble answering that because I have a different verse for different seasons of my life.  Verses will worm their way into my life and pop up at every occasion.  I’ll start seeing the same verse be in multiple devotionals that I read one week, a friend will send me this verse, my pastor will preach on it, a song I sing will be based off it, and more.  It will be, as I like to say, “on repeat”.  That’s often how God gets my attention and how I know that it is more than a passing coincidence; it’s a verse that is specifically delivered inside the realm of my attentions to speak to me.

Lie and Truth Match-ups

Hey y’all! Below is a short list of lies that I’ve believed at one point or another and verses that help dispute them.  I know these are fairly common so I wanted to help others not believe the lies and have a truth to replace it with.

I can’t do anything right.

“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight—”–Colossians 1:21-22

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.”

Ephesians 1:3-8, 11-12

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”

Romans 8:1-2 NKJV

I’m not important.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”

I Peter 2:9

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

I Timothy 4:12

I’m not worth anything.

“The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”–Jeremiah 31:3

“For thus says the LORD of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me. “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the LORD. “Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you.”

Zechariah 2:8-11

I’m stupid and dumb.

“Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.”

Jeremiah 29:12-14

I feel like I can never heal because the wounds are so many and so deep and don’t ever get time to heal.

“Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You shall again be adorned with your tambourines, And shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.”–Jeremiah 31:4

“Sing, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem! The LORD has taken away your judgments, He has cast out your enemy. The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst; You shall see disaster no more. In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: “Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak. The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” “I will gather those who sorrow over the appointed assembly, Who are among you, To whom its reproach is a burden. Behold, at that time I will deal with all who afflict you; I will save the lame, And gather those who were driven out; I will appoint them for praise and fame In every land where they were put to shame. At that time I will bring you back, Even at the time I gather you; For I will give you fame and praise Among all the peoples of the earth, When I return your captives before your eyes,” Says the LORD.”

Zephaniah 3:14-20

““Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; For you will forget the shame of your youth, And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore. For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.

For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the LORD, who has mercy on you. “O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted, Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires. I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones. All your children shall be taught by the LORD, And great shall be the peace of your children. In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you. Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD.”

Isaiah 54:4-5, 10-15, 17

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Matthew 6:26, 30, 33-34

“Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.”

Jeremiah 29:12-14

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

II Corinthians 5:17

“But the Lord stands beside me like a great warrior. Before him my persecutors will stumble. They cannot defeat me. They will fail and be throughly humiliated. Their dishonor will never be forgotten.” Jeremiah 20:11

I’m not appreciated.

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

I Timothy 4:12
