A Raw Update on What’s Been Going On

In my early teenage years, I had a personal, everyday encounter with what it meant to be a hypocrite.  Someone close to me hurt me continually, verbally and emotionally, when I was with her, but then when out with her friends would be all syrupy sweet.  It sickened me, and I resolved to be honest and genuine myself.  I know it’s always easier to see someone else’s flaws over your own, so I make it a point to work on in myself whatever bothers me about others.  I believe it was Gandhi that had the same idea: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Road Trippin’

I love road trips, particularly ones where I don’t have to drive, because it gives me time to look out the window and daydream.  I love imagining what the landscape would have looked like before it was settled by humans, back when the animals would run wild and the plants grew wherever they wanted to.  I love imagining the wild freedom the land had before civilization took over.  I love admiring God’s creation and the marvelous job He did.  It fascinates me how some places are as flat as flat can be, while others are full of hills and mountains and the road curves around steep drop-offs and goes over rivers and streams.  I love watching as the sun rises and the fog lifts over the landscape.  I love the quaint country roads and the magnificent structure of bridges and highways.  I love following wherever the road leads, whether it’s planned or unexpected.
