2018 Blog Year in Review

I wanted to take a moment to take a broad overview of 2018 on my blog.  Today I’ll be looking at milestones I hit in 2018 with WordPress!

My views for 2018 were 10x that of my views in 2017, and 100x that of 2016, coming in at almost 8,000 views.  I posted 175 times on my blog, with a cumulative word count of over 100,000 words! I received almost 1,000 likes and nearly 200 comments.  I love hearing from you all–whether by you simply hitting “like” to let me know you stopped by, or taking the time to comment, I cherish and smile at every interaction.  I make it a point to pray over every new follower, and today I have 200 followers! One of my absolute favorite things is seeing where my readers are from; WordPress has this world map, and every time I get a view, it will color in the country that the person is reading my blog from.  I now have over 65 countries across all continents (except Antartica) that have visited me! Southeast Asia is probably the one area of the world that has the most countries colored in on my map–I’m only missing Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Bhutan and North Korea if those count as southeast Asia, and some small islands (so if you know anyone in those areas, send this blog their way! 😉 )

While that paragraph may have sounded like I’m obsessed with numbers and views, please know I’m not.  I’m more obsessed with thinking about how big yet small our world is that the words I write reach places I’ve never seen, people I don’t even know.  It blows my mind that we could all be connected by the Internet and similar interests, even if we don’t know one another personally.  It’s crazy yet awesome to think about!

I was pretty surprised when I was looking at my most popular posts of 2018 and found that three of them were my church notes posts! I started doing that to keep myself accountable to study and take notes–something I was doing anyway–and then had the idea to share it on my blog as well.  Work smart, not hard! I was afraid it was just going to be a convenience thing for me, so that I could post more content, but you all loved them! I was delighted at how well they were received and I genuinely hope that they blessed you all and encouraged you in your faith as well.  I was seeing that people were viewing this notes 6-7 months after I posted them, which really blew my mind.  I’m so glad you all liked them because I love doing them! 🙂 Be sure to check out the list below and read any that you may have missed!

Top Five Posts Published in 2018:

  1. Through the Eyes of a Lion
  2. Everything Must Go
  3. Sermon Notes (6/23-24)
  4. Guest Post: MaryLu Tyndall
  5. Sermon Notes (6/2-6/3)

I’m so excited to see where God takes this blog in 2019.  I want to stay committed to posting honest, true, and real content with you all as I live this life of faith, read literature, and travel.  It’s an adventure and I just think it’s so cool that you would want to share it with me.

Thanks so much for your support! It really encourages me to keep going.

  1. Great wrap-up! Sorry, I’m a bit late discovering your post and blog.

I also added the global map widget in my sidebar and love it! In addition, I added a flag counter widget, which you may like to do as it’s so much fun but can be addictive!

Many thanks for stopping by my Travel and Photography blog.
