Freedom’s Light by Colleen Coble is one of the latest books I’ve received from the Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Guild. I haven’t been a huge fan of Coble’s in the past, but I enjoyed this novel. I love historical novels and have read several centered around lighthouses, so this fell within my sweet spot for reading. 🙂
This historical romance/suspense is my favorite of the books I’ve read by Coble. The tension was well done and made you feel as if you were truly there in the moment, although the plot seemed to me to repeat itself throughout the book.
Freedom’s Light is the story of a widow who has taken up her late husband’s responsibility to care for their lighthouse during the American Revolution. She quickly discovers this isn’t just about her and keeping the light burning–there are opportunities she has to spy and keep her country on the path to freedom. Meanwhile she juggles drama with her younger sister, romance with a sailor who washes up after a wreck, and so much family and church drama.
This wasn’t my favorite book ever, in any of the many genres it hits, but it was a good read nonetheless. Thank you to the Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Guild for sending me a copy! All opinions are my own and were not required to be positive.

I really enjoyed this book! Honestly, it’s not Coble’s best, but it was still a good read. You can check my review out here if you want:
