November Update

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give you all an update on what’s been going on from my side of the computer screen.

October marked the one-year anniversary of quitting my job and beginning to focus heavily on posting more God-oriented content on my blog, which originally had just been for book reviews (hence their still strong presence on here today).  I can’t really believe it’s only been one year–it feels like a whole different lifetime, because I’ve really pursued getting to know God more, and I’ve learned so much about Him that it’s turned my whole view of Christianity upside down.  In the process, I’ve begun outlining and writing a book.  I’m currently four chapters into the writing process, and I’ve hit a roadblock.  I outlined for about nine chapters, but since I finished chapter four, I have really sensed that the book is supposed to go in another direction from there on.  Whether or not it will come back around to my original outline, I am unsure.

You’ve probably noticed that I haven’t been posting according to my Monday-Friday schedule.  While I haven’t had a lot of ideas on what to write about, there has been a theme on repeat in my times with God.  I’ve sensed God saying that He doesn’t want me to share everything He says to me with everyone else–which is normal in an intimate relationship anyway! I think perhaps my blog and my book have been a motivator for spending time with God, that I read His word and then use what He says to have something to write about, rather than pursuing Him for the purpose of relationship with Him.  Creativity will naturally come out of a relationship with God, but I shouldn’t be pursuing Him for that purpose.

So, right now I’m kind of just in that place where I am examining my heart and my motives for seeking God, and I don’t want to write on my blog for the sake of writing.  With that said, I will be posting my church notes and book reviews, but as for the devotional posts, not until I get the go-ahead from God again.  I want to make sure my motives are right in doing them so that you all get the most out of them and God gets the most glory.  I know they are the most popular posts on my blog, so pausing them doesn’t make a lot of sense in terms of trying to grow my blog, but above growing my blog I want to make sure my heart is right with God.

I hope that makes sense and that you will stick with me through this season! October was a little crazy with my birthday and several different trips out of town and church retreats, so I found little time to write then, and with the holidays coming up, I’ll do the best I can.  Thank you for your patience! I’ve reached out to a couple of friends of mine, and they plan to do guest posts for me, so when they send them my way, I’ll put them up on the blog for you!

xo,

love first, love well, love anyway-4
