Guest Post: Lily from The Sassy Baker

Today’s guest is my sister Lily–who I’m fairly sure is the only sister of mine who hasn’t made an appearance on my blog yet.  You can check out what my other sisters had to say here and here.

Here’s what she has to say:

Hey guys, God just put something on my heart that I wanted to share.

Do you consider yourself a “sinner saved by grace” or a “saint who sins”?

A sinner saved by grace is someone who believes in God but hasn’t changed their life to reflect that belief. A sinner saved by grace wants to believe that God loves them but deep down inside they don’t see themselves as worthy of love; they think of themselves as dirty, shameful, and sinful. But they make no effort to make things right. They nod their head when someone says something about God or gives good advice. They pretend to agree with the biblical teaching they are exposed to and even say things that they think will make themselves sound profound or “spiritual”, but in reality their actions do not reflect the words they say at church. They hurt others out of the hurt that they have received in an effort to make themselves feel better.

A saint who sins is someone who knows that God sacrificed himself for them and that he loves them unconditionally and always will. A saint who sins is continually trying to better themselves and grow in their relationship with God and keep him as their top priority. A saint who sins is wise and listens to the advice of Godly people. A saint who sins does mess up sometimes; we all do. But they don’t let it stop them. They ask for God’s forgiveness and lean on him to help them resist temptation in the future. A saint who sins has recognized the identity that God has given them and chosen to step into it and fulfill it with God’s strength instead of still referring to themselves as a sinner. A saint who sins has to continually renew their mind and treat others the way that God treats them. A saint who sins is genuine in all of their actions and has integrity.

Be honest with yourself; are you a saint who sins or a sinner saved by grace? Do you want to make an effort to change? If so, are you actually going to?

Thanks so much, Lily! Y’all please be sure to check out her blog!
