I read and loved this blog post earlier this month, because it perfectly sums up my love for travel! It has some wonderful quotes too.
This photo was taken by my friend who wrote the incredible guest post a few weeks back, and I absolutely love it! I set it as my wallpaper across all my devices.
This song, oh my goodness! I love how this church worships, and the spontaneity of it. The line from this song that gets stuck in my head is “You find the wild things in the wilderness” and I can’t get enough of it. It rings in my head and reminds me that if I want to discover the wild things of God, I have to go into the wilderness with Him. Those uncharted places of my heart and spirit that God wants to reveal to me, those are the wild places for me, and it’s there that I’ll find my wild God. It reminds me of when the children ask the Beavers about Aslan in the Chronicles of Narnia, and they reply, “Safe? Who said anything about safe? Of course He isn’t safe. But He’s good. He’s the king, I tell you.”
I heard this song for the first time at church this month and just fell in love with it! The lyrics are full of truth and the singer’s voice is mesmerizing. I’ve been listening to it at night before I go to bed to calm my worries from the day and remember that “peace is a promise [God] keep[s].”
“Not for a minute/was I forsaken/the Lord is in this place” I can’t get these lyrics out of my spirit. They’ve been on repeat in my playlist and on repeat in my soul. I especially love this extended version that was released on YouTube!
I’m kind of surprised at myself at how many songs I’ve put on the post for this month, because it seems like I’ve loved these songs for so long, but it’s only been during the month of August! I love the lyrics of this song and there’s so much joy that just comes through the video; it makes me want to dance.
I’ve seen this movie floating around on Amazon Prime for a few years now and finally took the time to sit down and watch it. Gimme Shelter is the powerful, gripping true story about a girl who flees her abusive relationship with her mother in search of safety. I cried and cried and cried throughout watching it and it definitely goes on the list of one of the best movies I’ve ever watched. (I watched it for free with my Amazon Prime membership, which allows me to watch a large selection of movies and TV shows for free, in addition to streaming music and getting 2-day shipping on most items across amazon. They even offer free books as well as photo storage to prime members! To start your free 30-day trial, click here.)
This message (only 15 minutes) was so powerful and went right along with what God’s been speaking to me this month, which was super encouraging! I highly recommend that y’all give it a watch!
This chapstick was actually incredibly hard to find online! It’s a lip balm made by Nivea for men (because it won’t leave a shine) that I found in the car and have been using all the time! It is super moisturizing and softening, and it has a little SPF protection against the sun too. It is unavailable on Amazon right now, but hopefully the listing will help you find it elsewhere.
The verse 2 Samuel 6:22 was on repeat for me at the beginning of the month, as has become a sort of anthem. I may end up doing a Life Verses post on it to go into more detail, but it is King David’s response to his wife Michal, after she criticized him for his unabashed worship. It reads:
“I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”
I just love that response! ‘Oh, you think my worship is too much? I know how much God has done for me and how faithful He has been, and in all likelihood, I’ll be even more undignified than this the next time I worship!’ No apologies. No shame. Just ‘you thought that was crazy? Come back next time!’. I love it.
I also came across this verse and it confirmed so many things God was speaking to me:
“For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.”
I love that the visions God has given me are still waiting; they don’t diminish with how long it takes me to “get my act together”. They are set to be fulfilled at a certain time and they will wait for that right time. It’s not a lie. It is surely coming, and it will not delay. Hallelujah!
