Through the Eyes of a Lion

Through the Eyes of a Lion by Levi Lusko

I’ve been loosely following the Lusko family since the unexpected death of their daughter Lenya five years ago, and ever since I heard about the release of Through the Eyes of a Lion, I knew I wanted to read it.  I got myself the audio version (that is read by the author Levi Lusko himself) over Christmas and just started listening to it as I packed for vacation last week.  It had me captivated from the foreword straight through the end of the book; I finished listening to it in one day.  I sobbed, I laughed out loud, I had at least a dozen WOW moments, I paused it to write down notes…I was all over the spectrum emotionally.  The story gripped me and the writing was superb.  I felt all the emotions right alongside the author as he read.  I went on my Instagram stories and recommended it to everyone I knew, just as I aim to do here.

I loved how easy to understand this book is.  The author describes the intense pain of unexpectedly losing a child, and even though I’ve never had a child myself, I ached with him.  He described the spiritual lessons he learned from the experience, going from a Billy Graham quote to a Hunger Games reference.  He read Scripture and related it to Spider-man and other superheroes.  Any age level, from middle school up to grandparents and great-grandparents, would be able to understand and learn from this book! The lessons in it apply to all of us, and I believe will resonate in each of us.  It reminded me again that life is precious and sharing my faith is imperative.  Through the Eyes of a Lion truly shifted my perspective and inspired me, and I can’t say enough good things about it.

For anyone who hasn’t read it, please, get and read this book! I would even recommend getting the audiobook over any other version because hearing the author tell his story is his own voice adds another level of personal impact.

This isn’t a book that I signed up to promote or be an influencer for; this is a book that I read in my own personal time and that affected me so greatly that I wanted to share it with all of you.  Please, do yourself a favor and listen to this inspiring story.
