About Me

To celebrate 150 followers on my Instagram and 125 followers on my blog, I wanted to take a post to introduce myself and tell you a little about why I’m doing what I’m doing.

The Basics

I am the oldest of four girls (all of my sisters have blogs also, you can check them out herehere, and here.)

I’ve been blogging for seven years and counting, but have really started getting more serious about my writing in the past six months (see why down below).

I’m an introvert (INFJ-A according to this personality test which I have found to be freakily accurate), so I really like being able to connect with so many people from doing what I love–scribbling down my thoughts onto this blog.  I love writing in my journal but rarely have time to do so because so much of my time is spent writing in other places.

These are a Few of My Favorite Things

I listen to this playlist every single day to pump me up and remind me who I am and why I do what I do.  (If you don’t have Amazon Music, check out this playlist on YouTube that’s similar.)

I occasionally procrastinate and then have everything planned down to the last minute to squeeze it all in.  When this happens, I always put on the Pirates of the Caribbean album when I’m in a rush because it makes my rushing feel a lot more epic.

My absolute favorite movie is The Princess Diaries (well, the first one and the second one, so technically my two favorite movies).  People who know me well (and now all of you) will know that I watch them just about every month, and I’m always quoting from the two movies.

People often call me an “old soul”; I usually get along with people older than me better than those younger than me.

I’m a huge Jane Austen fan and love that era.  The 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth is the best one out there, and there’s no changing my mind on that.

My absolute favorite TV show is Poldark.  I’ve seen each episode at least twice but most of them three to fives times over.

As you may have gathered from the sporadic book reviews, I love reading.  Comment down below if you would be interested in a post where I share my favorite books with y’all!

Why I Do What I Do

Even though I’ve spent this whole post thus far telling you about me, it’s not.  I’ve told you all this trivia about me because I want you to know that I’m a real person.  Someone with likes and dislikes and laughter and tears, not just another voice blaring from behind a screen.  I want you to know that I’m honest and real.

But really, above and beyond all that, it’s not about me.  It’s not.  It’s about God and what He speaks to me.  I’d rather you know God than know me.  And while I love seeing what all countries my writings reach and thank God for each and every new follower I get, it’s not about me.  It’s not about who all knows my name; it’s about making His name known.

I write because I want to share what God tells me with you all.  I want you to know He’s real and He still speaks to each and every one of us personally, today.  I write because each thing He shows me is so incredible and overwhelming that I just want to shout it from the rooftops.  I want everyone to know He cares and He listens and He answers and He loves.  Oh, how He loves!

So, I would love to see you stick around and seek God with me.  He’s there, waiting to be found.

(If you want to know more details of how I knew I was supposed to be a writer/blogger, check out my Called By Name posts (there’s three of them).  Those talk more in-depth about how I heard God calling me to this.)

P.S. I linked a lot of the things I love so you all could find them easily, but this is not a sponsored post or anything.  Just trying to make life easier for y’all.

I'm a writer who publishes my thoughts on the life I'm living, literature I'm reading, and God I'm serving. Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
